![]() Regarding speech: BaK has some short speech samples upon meeting certain key characters, but most of it is text only. From the looks of it it just takes a while. Those who got stuck at the "ease wait" screen, leave it open a while! I initially thought it wouldn't go beyond there too, but I left it open a few minutes today and sure enough, suddenly it did go through to the title screen. I've tried the two things in the beginning (Increasing the CPU cycles and frame rate) But that doesn't seem to be connected to the problem. The only problem is, however, that it runs terribly slow, almost too slow to be playable (In full screen, even slower). Finnaly, after finding a download, I find that I can run it with DOSBox. Seriously, best ever, and I've had trouble getting it to run on Windows 9x, much less now Windows XP. Combat works well, as does every other feature of the game. When running the game, the "loading please wait" message appeared for six seconds, then faded to black and the game started. After that you run INSTALL.EXE and set the sound card to Sound Blaster. I'm using floppy version on a P4-2800 with 512 MB RAM and the following settings: machine=svga, cycles=15000 (found it crashed when it was set at 30000, which I guess makes it think it's running on a processor that's too much for it), sblaster=true, xms=false, ems=true. Haven't tried this in 0.61 but running it for the first time in 0.62 works perfectly. I waited for an hour to get it working but it didn't work, someone help me step by step. If you have problem running the game, try to edit Drive.cfg file - change the letters to the ltter of the drive where BaK is installed. Any advice on how I stop it from hiccupping all the time? I've tried upping the frame skip, but that doesn't help at all. I hope this helps other adcenturers as well to play this great game.īut it seems to be really, really choppy. With these, I can play the game at its normal speed with the sound at mere 10K Cycles. But it's all over! My settings are Memory 63M, no XMS, CPU Core Dynamic, Frame Skip 2 and NO scale. First, I also had problems with speed, or, when I set CPU cycles to 40K, with sound. ![]() I've just got the game running quite well. I can't get the game to start because apparently I don't have enough xms memory available.I tried to fix this in the executable file, but it did nothing.can someone email me to let me know how I can get this amazing RPG to it workking fine ( 04:37) Your game does not have enough free memory to run ( 21:50) This version also fixes many instances where the game freezes. If doing this toggles the arrow rotating and the map staying still vs the map rotating and the arrow staying pointed up, then you have version 1.02. You can tell if you have version 1.02 by pressing "n" on the overhead map view. If you are unable to patch the game like I was, you can download a pre-patched version 1.02 here Everything is smooth, unless you try to run through a corn field. What a thrill to finally be able to play this game again! Thank you so much, guys!!Ģ5000 cycles is enough most of the time. I have the CD version and the game runs very well. In addition, the Munt driver works well (the lengthy game start time, I know, is attributed to the lengthy MT-32 SysEx download and is not a bug), offering me a chance to play the game as I never could before. Though I have not progressed through too much of the game at present (though I have completed the game before so know what to be looking for), I can thus far detect no abnormalities in the gameplay. In addition, I'm using the Munt MT-32 Emulator Windows XP driver and routing the MIDI through that. I am using DOSBox 0.72 official on an Athlon XP 2400+, running it directly through the DOSBox shell. I am trying the version released to the public by Sierra/Dynamix (v1.00, I have yet to patch it). Any suggestions on how I might fix this problem - or where I can find a downloadable version of the game?įree Download Version - 0.72 - Runs ( 12:56) I still have the CD-ROM of BaK and I have DOSbox mounted to play CD-ROMs however, when I put my disk of BaK in - my Vista program treats it like DVD-R and says it's an audio only disk. I just recently download DOSbox hoping to play an old favorite. ![]() Recently I played the as freeware released version of the game in the newest stable DosBox build. Hey, I can now pass the loading screen issue with that sound configuration : Tip: to get the CD music working correctly: you need to rip the CD as a cue (see the FAQ). Works great! I use 20,000 cpu cycles ( 19:34) Betrayal at Krondor - Sierra/Dynamix (1993) ![]()
